FS01-25 Use of Drama in Education

Course description:

The aim of this course will be to provide the necessary tools and resources to enhance creativity and learning in classrooms and the school at large with the incorporation of drama. This course shall focus on tackling matters such as emotional and communication problems through drama skills. It shall offer ideas how this can done in classrooms, how drama can be incorporated in different subjects, how to enhance critical and out-of-the-box thinking and develop self-expression and problem solving. The theraputic effects of drama shall also be discussed in relation to reducing stress and anxiety in students.

The “Basic Maltese” course is intended for adults, especially foreigners residing in Malta, who wish to understand and be able to communicate in Maltese on a basic level. It helps in situations like meeting new people, requiring a service, asking for directions, health appointments and more. The course offers also interesting information about the Maltese language, culture, traditions and customs.

Course description:

A course on understanding how educators should be more attuned to taking care of their personal mental and physical wellbeing and receive training on mindfulness techniques and skills to take care of their needs. One cannot hope to be in a position to help others, if one does not have the personal skills to deal with life’s issues, with the pressures emanating from the classroom and learning to keep boundaries that support overall wellbeing.

This is a course that focuses on understanding the world of AI and Chat GPT and their important role in education. How AI and digitalisation can be positive tools in the classroom and beyond. However, it is important to understand the difficulties and risks that these tools posit. In particular, addressing the fact in a widely digitalised world, the ‘human’ element should remain as a crucial cornerstone not just of the educational system but of society as a whole.

Course description:

This is a course that focuses on the reality of diversity and its impact on the education sector. As Maltese society becomes more multicultural and new social realities evolve or become visible in the Maltese context, the need to understand the impact all of this has on the education of students is essential. Drawing on the experiences of educators themselves, and based on the idea of workshop conversations, the course aims to appraise and identify positive good practice and also provide training to educators facing multiple challenges and opportunities in diverse classroom settings.
